FIRST FRIDAY OPENING: The Blending of Us

Description: A juried, mixed-media art exhibition at Akela Space titled “The Blending of Us.” Works will be created around three central themes: Community (exploration/understanding of the external), Identity (exploration/understanding of self), and Love (the exploration of the relationship between internal and external

Objective: To navigate and explore communities outside of our typical lens. To give others an opportunity to learn and grow from one another and discover outlets for ourselves that we may not have known existed. To educate and inspire emerging artists to continue pursuing their creative endeavors.

Who does this serve: individuals in our community navigating new norms, their sense of belonging and community, artists, developed and emerging, seeking to express themselves through creative means. 

Eligibility: this exhibit is open to all artists 16 years or older.

Entry Rules:  All art submitted must be the original work of the applicant. All submitted and accepted work will become the property of the Keys to Life Alaska for fundraising purposes.  All artwork must be display ready. Employees and Board Members of the Keys to Life Alaska, Akela Space and Art by Vonnie are eligible to submit artwork, but not eligible to win.

Prizes: First Place $500, Second Place $250, Third Place $100, Honorable Mentions $50 Blaine’s Gift Card
